Hysteria Over Climate Change is Hysterical

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen It is a fact that there are noticeable similarities in the bad reasoning and worse science used by flat earthers, anti-vaxxers , chemtrail conspiracies , and several other concepts that are insulting to thinking people. You can also find parallels between evolutionary thinking and global climate change alarmism . Should we laugh or cry about the climate change hysteria? Derived from an image at ESA / NASA / SOHO Fake science "experts" have predicted the end of the world many times (especially in some sort of climate change), but though Algore and his followers then and now have been shown to be galactically wrong.  They're on the side of the angels, you know, and have to save us from ourselves. With what, denial of science, suppression of inconvenient facts, and calling our Creator a liar? Not bloody likely. Here is a short video that I'd take mighty kindly if you'd give a listen. (Well, I have to use the video format because audi

Vaccinations, "Big Pharma", and Evolution

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen For several months, I've been chomping at the bit to get this article written. There is an addendum belo w the video. Is it just my imagination, or has there been a marked increase in anti-vaccination material? (Perhaps they get worked up by anti-vax celebrities and politicians like Donald Trump , Jim Carrey , Jenny McCarthy , Bill Maher , and others.) There are many conspiracy theories linked to vaccinations, and there is a range of intensity, including "governments use vaccines to control the population". This troubles me. No, it actually gets me angry. (There are people who will take any innocuous comment and say that the writer is angry, but in this case, I'm telling you right out of the gate how I feel. I've even "unfriended" people for spreading the stuff.) This will not be a detailed pro-vaccine apologetic, since too many people have their minds made up from emotional appeals and terrible reasoning, but I want to make so

Skepticism in Action

Image
by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Regular readers of my Weblogs know full well that I believe in healthy skepticism, as it helps us obtain adequate information instead of accepting unsubstantiated claims. W ere those ads really rejected for inclusion in a Super Bowl broadcast? Maybe, maybe not. But it's not exactly a serious claim that can change your life , is it?  Fact-checking comes to the forefront when something is on the fantastic side. I've come to expect atheists and evolutionists to believe and pass along negativity when it comes to Christians and creationists, but it really burns my prairie schooner when Christians embarrass themselves (and other Christians) by neglecting to do a bit of fact-checking before passing along wild stories. Some even pass along material from parody sites without checking the sources. This child believes in asking questions and getting details. The end of the world is a good example. More On Conspiracy Theories and Emotional "Thinking"

This article will probably cost me some friends. In the past couple of years, I feel like I have learned ten years worth of information. And quite a bit of it is people-related. Humans are an odd bunch, the more I learn about them, the more questions I have. Ken Ham's saying applies here: Some people believe things by "thinking" with their emotions, and they cannot handle facts or people who dare to disagree with them. Case in point, this exchange with Hassan, an evolutionary misotheist who jumped into the middle of some comments on Facebook. I hope my students from "Logic Lessons" can spot the flaws. Pardon the goofy spacing, I got tired of fighting with Blogger's reformatting: Evolution and selective breeding are 2 different things. Look at what they've done to the German Shepard in the last decade, they,ve changed it's line completely by shortening the back legs. Yes. Selective breeding can be considered micro-evolution under intelligent

Truthers and Birthers and YECs, Oh My!

Image
Buon giorno. Here's something short that occurred to me. Republicans, and many Conservatives, distance themselves from people who have doubts that B. Hussein Obama was actually born in the United States. They even have a disparaging word, "Birthers". (Of course, leftists utterly detest anyone who does not bow down and worship Dumbobama, so they are not worth consideration.) There are nagging developments about his birth certificate that make the anti-birthers rethink their positions, however. But I don't want to get into that. Then there are the "Truthers". In general, Republicans and Conservatives distance themselves from this lot, with good reason. I want to slap them until their heads spin for their belief in utterly ludicrous conspiracy theories, capice? It's usually  cafones who want to believe sensational stuff, mostly leftists who hate liberty and freedom, who promote this crap. I wrote about this some time ago, go here for that article an

The Real Truth about 9-11

Yeah, I'm a 9-11 truther. Here's the truth, in your face: It was not an inside job, it was done by insane, cowardly terrorist Islamo-Fascists. Got it? Comprendez? Capice? Comprendre? No? OK, I'll give you a little bit more. Probably been watching that ridiculous Zeitgeist "movie" , huh? Kids love it. Thinking people don't. Or maybe you're listening to lunatic Hollyweird actors that are using their celebrity status in lieu of being knowledgeable in the subject? Remember how the planes essentially disintegrated when they hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? Some nut cases were saying that they were armed military missiles, not jets used like missiles, that struck the buildings. (I have read the laughable idea that the passengers and crew are all safe and sound. Imagine, all those people without a conscience and still keeping quiet, even knowing that they are tacitly complicit in the "bombings". Oh, please! ) Jump forward to concer
